Thank you for visiting my virtual art gallery!
I’ve shared some of my acrylic paintings and photography here, as well as some of my fine art crafts. I just started dabbling in watercolor painting, so I shared a few of my beginner creations in this medium also.
Soon my site will include a virtual store, and purchases can be made online. Until that is up and running, please contact me directly if you are interested in owning one of my creations. (All paintings are original works of art, not prints).
A little about me and my creative process…
I believe everyone is creative, each in our own way. I’ve always enjoyed expressing my creative nature in a variety of ways in my life… through painting, photography, home décor, the foods I prepare, etc… even in how I wrap gifts for friends and family. It brings me personal fulfillment, and it’s my way of sharing joy and love with others.
Years ago, while participating in a creative workshop based on Julia Cameron’s book, The Artist’s Way, I learned that creativity is a process of surrender, not control. I can start out with an idea or plan but surrendering usually brings the best results. My curiosity and instincts can explore a strategy, and through the creative process, the art can evolve in an exciting direction, so I go with the flow.
In her book, Julia Cameron stated: “Creativity is God’s gift to us. Using our creativity is our gift back to God.” We live in a complicated world that can sometimes be quite overwhelming and when I create, whatever form that takes, it relaxes me, brings me joy, and nourishes my soul. I feel blessed! The process of creating connects me to something bigger than myself. I can easily lose track of time while creating, and my spirit is recharged as I get lost in the process. When my creative work makes people happy, or touches them somehow and resonates with them, it doubles my joy! And when we can bless others with our creativity, I believe we are using our creativity as a gift back to God.
I am self-taught and don’t always know the rules to follow. Even when I follow the rules, I experiment out of a sense of curiosity to see what will happen when I try something different. I embrace each challenge as an opportunity to grow. As an exploratory artist in abstract expressionism, I like to repurpose things and use them with acrylic paint to create interesting textures and nuance. I’m relatively new to watercolor painting, and I’m finding that there is a lot to uncover with this medium as well.
In photography, I am intrigued by textures, interesting objects, doorways, and captured moments. My husband and I love to travel (internationally and domestically) and I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to travel quite a bit. There is always something new to discover! I try to capture beauty, special moments, and the feelings I experience when I travel. My hope is that people are transported to the places I have visited and can share the experiences I have had when they are viewing my photos.
I look forward to seeing you at one of my art shows or gallery exhibitions soon! Until then, stay tuned, as I update my site periodically with my new work.
